Health Care Advocacy

The Health Care Advocacy Department’s goal is to connect eligible individuals and families to existing health care services and provide advocacy services to meet their health care needs. The department also assists people with FoodShare applications to meet their nutritional needs. In addition, department staff work with uninsured, underinsured and those who do not meet eligibility criteria for any of the benefit programs to connect them to free or low cost health care centers.

Department staff are available to conduct trainings for consumers and other community based organizations on BadgerCare Plus and FoodShare. Staff also conduct trainings on health care-related issues, participate in community coalitions addressing health care and disability matters, and advocate for policy and systemic change to reduce barriers to health care access.
